Anti-spam programs are designed to keep out "junk" or unsolicited e-mail, similar to the way anti-virus programs are designed to prevent and destroy viruses. An anti-spam program will catch and filter unwanted e-mail coming into your computer. The program recognizes keywords in the subject heading like "Free Insurance Quote" and attached file structures.

 

Earlier in this manual, we learned how to send a picture or URL as an attachment. You can also send a program or other file types with an e-mail. If you receive an e-mail from someone you don't know, and particularly if that e-mail contains some attachment, be careful when opening the e-mail.
